Durable and yellow

This Budd car (BC-30) is parked at a siding.  In front of it, a long lasting yellow-painted Durable Bumping Post marks the end of the track.

"Stripey" and "Red"

The Budd car (BC-15) has a friend - a red (number 120) interurban car.

 

The red (No. 120) car is a Model 55 gasoline car that was built by the J. G. Brill Company of Philadelphia.  It went in to service in 1929 as a track inspection (Sperry Rail Service No. 105).  During WWII, it served as munitions car for Remington Arms.  Later, it was painted bright yellow and was at the Branford Electric Railway Association before ending up at a trolley museum.  At present, it is here.

Bare to the walls

 

Nothing left behind

With the closure of a store, the interior was gutted to the bare walls, leaving behind an empty storefront. 

 

Most of the items on the outside back wall were also removed. 

 

Red sign left behind

The red "Video Recording In Progress" sign was left behind, reminding the casual passerby that video recordings are in progress.

Three setting suns

The cold clouds of a passing weather front afford the sight of three suns setting.

 

Close to the horizon

The sun dogs on either side of the sun are caused by the refraction of the sunlight through the ice crystals in the clouds.   These parhelia are approximately 22 degrees to either side of the sun.  The red is closest to the sun with the blue to the outside.

Sitting at a siding

This 1952 vintage boxcar was originally with the New York Central and more recently known as BCLR 4001.  Now grey-painted, this 40-footer is seen at the Pier siding.  Here it is presented as a relaxed view 3d stereograph.

He is tall

 

Fourteen feet tall, clothed in gold leaf, The Independent Man awaits return to his rightful place high atop the State House.  This relaxed view 3d stereograph presents him in the main lobby of that staid building.

 

 

GMC Sprint 1977

 

A coupe utility - pickup

 

 

The GMC Sprint was made from 1971 to 1977 as the GMC cousin of the Chevrolet El Camino.  After 1977, it was re-badged as a Caballero; that was produced until 1987.  Both were co-models of the Ford Ranchero utility coupe pickup.

This 1977 two tone model, with added custom wheels, is presented as a relaxed view 3d stereograph.

Note - this may be a 1976, as that was that year that stacked rectangular headlights were first used.

The marble stairway leads up to the main floor.  The door on the left leads to a plain stairway that goes down to a sub-basement.  Both this floor and the sub-basement are accessible by taking a self guided tour of the building.

The stairway allowing access from the ground level to the second level deck also allows egress from the interior upper floors of the building to the exterior ground level of the building.  This bi-directional stairway is presented here as a relaxed view 3d stereograph.

 

 

The O in Hotpoint

 

"O", "O", and "O"

 

That "O" is the second "O" in the word HOTPOINT.  This enamel metal neon sign served a store that sold Hotpoint and other brands of appliances.   Restored, the sign now lights up for an establishment in zipcode 02809.

Read the reflection

This neon sign is one of possibly four such signs in the USA.  Three of these signs are functional and light up.  The fourth appears to be for sale but needs restoration.
