Post Office News

This Is Your Book Mark

The Post Office News Company of Chicago sold newspapers and periodicals and books from out of town and from all over the world.  In 1897, they were located at 217 Dearborn Street.  In 1904, they were located at 178 Dearborn Street.  They eventually had six locations.  By 1956, their headquarters were at 37 West Monroe Street.  When that location was demolished some time in the 1970s to make room for a new office building, Messrs.  Franklin and Dry closed the business.  This "Friday" bookmark notes their past presence.

Two hallways

Long empty sunlit hallways attract three-dee-ness.

Sunlit hallway on the third floor

That was the second one.  Just to right, out of camera range, was a person on their mobile device who would not stop talking.  I could have waited, but chose not to, and moved in a few steps to take the two photos.

This was the first hallway as I entered the building.

The first floor hallway

I was early enough for my meeting to take the two photographs for this 3d stereograph image.

This hallway, in the afternoon, can be seen here.

Color smear

Accidentally pressed

An unintentionally pressed shutter release creates an accidental image.  With the help of some post, of course.
