The A in this GAS utility cover is pointing out the slightly off center arrow  above it.  This delightful scene was seen in the street beneath our feet.

Gas drip

Gas drip utility cover
GAS DRIP and squares

The rare and seldom seen GAS DRIP utility cover.  This one uses a 5x5 square block grid and a sans serif font to designate its function.

GAS TEST utility covers are often seen in the street beneath our feet.

N.B.  more intensive image searches for "gas drip" utility covers uncovered three others; they are different, too.

N.B., both this two door beauty, and the restaurant, are gone.  The car - sold?  the eatery - renamed?

This car was styled by an independent design consultancy led by George Walker; rather than doing the designs himself, he selected from the designs developed by the team and presented those to Ford.  Their first design appeared as the 1949 model year.  That included the "spinner" front grille and FORD letters across the front hood.  For the 1950 model year, the FORD letters, which would come loose, were replaced by the crest (coat of arms),
