Covering up graffiti with paint produces its own art.  A good surface prep is usually needed unless the peeling effect is desired.  Color matching is not necessary if the paint itself is applied neatly.

This could be a peeling knife.  That knife blade appears to be original to the knife and not a reshape due to sharpening or breakage.
