At one time, the front glass of this empty store was "three over one". When those large glass panes were broken, they would be replaced with smaller panes that were cheaper to buy and replace. Here the result is a "three over two" look which accentuates the overall effect of vertical rectangles.
Door pull
Despite the look of the door pull and lock, the front door is well secured. Of note is the ergonomic placement of the pull handle in relation to the thumb latch.
The 7 x 4 cut-through perpendicular diamond pattern of this manhole cover creates rectangular and pie shaped negative spaces. The rubber tires of irregularly timed vehicle traffic keep the cover buffed to a dull but reflective surface.
The scan at 4800 dpi reveals that the color registration of this "Sugar Plum Tea" box is off slightly, but not enough that it would interfere with the enjoyment of the tea.
This
sales slip for 27 cents - twenty five cents for a used book plus two
cents sales tax - is dated May 16, with no year notated. It was found in a used book
where it was used as a bookmark. The discolored part at the top of the sales slip is the portion of the sales slip that was sticking out of the used book.
Arboria Books and Records closed at the end of July, 2006. It was owned by Mark Biega and had done business in State College starting in 1975.
