The building across the street and the sky and clouds and the utility wires are reflected in the plate glass of the store front window and in the curlicue-filamented light bulb.

C+E = ?

Are "C + E" still "+"?  Where are the two lefts and one right?  Questions permanently asked, but never answered  by the street beneath our feet.

NY&QEL&PCo 12x24x24 ring manhole cover

This 12 by 24 by 24 ring pattern appears on a manhole cover of the New York & Queens Electric Light & Power Company.  That company is now part of Consolidated Edison.

No doubt when NY&QEL&PCo was consolidated into ConEd, Con Ed also acquired the intellectual property rights of NY&QEL&PCo.  Con Edison modified that design, creating an updated manhole cover with the Con Edison Co. logo.

This "updated" electrical utility cover was made in India.

Look at the lock

Lock stuck

No doubt this lock fell off the back of a truck when it hit a bump in the road.  By happenstance, it fell into an crack in the road.  The passing wheeled traffic pressed it into the summer heat softened asphalt, embedding it firmly in the road where it stays, stuck.

The ring of black asphalt outlines the cross hatched manhole cover seen in the salt encrusted street.  The center of this sewer cover does have an identifying "logo", but it is so worn and damaged as to be illegible.

These two Valvco Venti-Box Patented Gas utility covers are seen in the sidewalk beneath our feet.
