A brief moment in time

Thirty seconds before this photo was taken, the shopping cart was not there; the customer who used it had not yet left it there.  Thirty seconds after this photograph was made, the shopping cart was not there; a gust of wind had blown it away.  During that brief moment in time when it was there - the color standing out against the drabness, the basket casting an almost moire shadow - that moment has been saved to be savored.  

 

Bees and crocuses

It is spring, it is warm and sunny, and the crocus flowers are open.  For a day or three, it gets warm - very, very warm.  So warm, that one can smell the sweetness of the crocus blossoms.  And, hear the bees buzzing among the blossoms.  It is a feeding frenzy.

Where they come from, where they go afterwards - who knows.  But for that day or two, the flowers are filled with fresh, sweet nectar, ripe pollen - and bees.

Seen in the street beneath our feet, the wear pattern on this sixteen-armed eight-holed sewer cover is reminiscent of a sunburst.

Grapefruit and limes and lemons

Contrary to the belief that they also have a sour attitude, citrus fruits are quite convivial and will visit with the fruits in the neighboring bins.

Tulips can self-pollinate and can be cross-pollinated.  The dark patterns inside this trio of yellow tulips look like they should attract any pollinators that may come by.
