hand-written on the tape on the floor tells anyone strolling through an area under construction that they should be wary as there is an uncovered hole beneath that tape.

The layout of the segments, holes, and ridges of this 12x12x6x6 manhole cover could be adapted to a clock face.

This manhole cover with some holes covered is seen in the street beneath our feet.  It has a 10 x 10 square diamond pattern of 88 pegs and four edge ridges.  There appear to be 39 holes, of which 11 are still open.

The concrete access cover for this underground utility space has developed a hole.  Passers-by can now peer into that space without having to lift the cumbersome cover to see what is inside. 

Muddy tracks

Slightly dry mud is an ideal medium for recording cat paw prints - raccoon tracks, too.
