The smoke plume from a distant fire spreads across the horizon.

The warehouse fire that produced that smoke plume was located approximately 18 miles (29 km) from where these photographs were made. The smoke plume, carried by the prevailing wind, is about 9 miles (14.5 km) long. The top of the plume is at about 2000 feet (600 m).
