A well worn =BPM= PENALTY ||FOR|| REMOVAL cover seen in the street beneath our feet.  This one is not as pristine as the one seen earlier.

Layout lines provide kerning guidance for the road sign painters.  The non-standard font catches the eye of the driver and alerts them of the required upcoming action.

The street was newly paved but the old access covers were retained.

The newly paved street corner has a new rectangular sewer cover and an old Consolidated Telegraph & Electrical Subway Company manhole cover.

Fill cap

OEM 2 inch fill cap

The Oil Equipment Manufacturing Company of New Haven made this 2 inch brass oil fill cap.  A fill cap key is used to remove it and then screw it back in.  The two inlaid copper wires were added to indicate the house number.

Bases from a cutoff

The sign that had been here was removed by cutting the legs off at sidewalk level, leaving behind the bases.  

The base that is in, what is now, the middle of the sidewalk gets trod upon day and night.  It is shiny and bright.

 The base near the curb barely gets a step.  It is rusting away.

Survey marker

A hardwired marker installed in the sidewalk provides accurate survey positional data.

It is blurry, it is shaky, but there it is - the third rail spark!  The bright blue, as well as the red of the subway car marker lights, is reflected in the wall tiles and metalwork.
